Africa's Roof
Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano in Tanzania, is Africa's highest peak and the world's highest free-standing mountain. Rising majestically above the African plains, the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro is a compelling sight.
The mountain is composed of three distinct volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Uhuru Peak on Kibo is the highest point, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level.
